Comments

My goal was to read 52 books, and I fell short by 3, though I don't count school-related books into that. Our lists actually overlap quite a bit LOL, though I wasn't a huge fan of The Book Thief.
I remember reading that you didn't like the Book Thief. I liked it because it was a look at the Holocaust from the average German family's pov. Almost every Holocaust book I've ever read, it's been from the Jewish point of view. I took a literature of the Holocaust class in high school, and every book was from the Jewish pov. To me it was interesting to read about what it was like for a family that didn't believe in what the Nazis were doing, but were trying to get by. I thought it was an interesting perspective, and the last 50 pages just killed me. I sat in bed and cried my eyes out. Plus, I loved that the story was told by Death.

What were your favorites of the year?
I definitely liked the perspective, but I felt like it dragged a little and I'm still confused how this was supposed to be a YA book. That's where they had it in the bookstore and I just don't see younger people reading it, honestly.

I unfortunately chucked my list with my old agenda book but I really liked "Acts of Faith" from Philip Caputo, I think that was my favorite of the year. "Lamb" from Christopher Moore was also really good, though I didn't really take to any of his other ones.
I love how eclectic your list is! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I probably shouldn't admit this because every book snob will roll their eyes, but I'm such a sucker for an interesting cover. That's how I find a lot my books, based on the cover.

If you have any suggetions for good reads, let me know!
